New project: Arch Nephilim

Arch Nephilim book cover

I am very pleased to announce a new project added to the Netherspawn series.

Arch Nephilim book cover

Arch Nephilim – a story about a nephilim (half-angel) living in the Aether realm that needs to step out of the shadows and attend a school for archangels.

The drawing on the cover is mine.

I’m super excited about this book because this idea gave me a slew of other ideas. I have found a path to write the trilogy I’ve been dreaming of!

The trilogy starts with The Merlin Paradox, a book I wrote during NaNoWriMo 2019 (check out the journal). It’s a story of a couple of cambions (half-demons) living on Earth that set in motion a series of events that have much greater reach than what they realize.

I’ve been editing it this entire year, and sadly, I’m far from done. The story is much more complex than I anticipated and requires serious revisions and expansions. It’s a labor of love.

I was planning a sequel to it, even wrote a few scenes during NaNo. The sequel would take place in the Nether and would give both characters a nice finishing character arc. I loved the idea of a trilogy: one book on Earth (human realm), another in the Nether (demon realm), and the last one in the Aether (angel realm), but I didn’t know what to do for the third book.

Now you see why I’m excited about Arch Nephilim, right? It’s the Aether book! With that idea in mind, I’ve found a better way to write this series. And very fittingly, I plan to write it during NaNoWriMo 2020 (check on the progress here).

The future of the series

The series that I’ve been calling so far Netherspawn (to be renamed) is now going to be:

  1. The Merlin Paradox (standalone),
  2. Arch Nephilim (standalone),
  3. Title tbd, let’s call it The Battle of Three Realms (sequel to both books).

The main story starts simultaneously on Earth and in the Aether but in separate books and using different characters and settings (which makes them standalone). Then, all characters will meet in the Nether and travel back to Earth to deal with the consequences of the mess they had created.

The series includes a few standalone prequels:

  1. DragonSky (a completed novella),
  2. Merlin and the Flannan Isle Lighthouse Mystery (a novelette in progress),
  3. Demon Tails (short story collection).

While the main story initially starts as a bonkers tale that would likely fit somewhere in the science-fantasy section, by the end, it is an epic fantasy that spans three realms (four if you count DragonSky). I am excited, but I’m also humbled by the sheer size of this universe. It will take me years to complete this saga, but I’m looking forward to the journey.
